Accessing IAS WebMail on a Windows XP SP2-based computer

How to logon to a secondary mailbox

Some of our clients have permission to access other Institute mailboxes besides their own. These users will be able to access those other Institute mailboxes via IAS WebMail by specifying the mailbox they want to logon to. This is done by typing the following:

How to access Webmail

The Institute for Advanced Study’s Information Technology Group is pleased to provide to its clients the Microsoft Outlook Web Access service (from this point forward referred to as IAS WebMail). Working in conjunction with Microsoft Exchange Server, IAS WebMail provides users supported by the Information Technology Group with the ability to logon to their Institute mailbox using virtually any Web browser (i.e., Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, Safari, etc.) to read and/or send e-mail messages, create contacts, and schedule appointments from any Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, Linux or UNIX-based computer connected to the World Wide Web.

Webmail: The flexibility of accessing your email account

Web-based email or webmail is a term referring to an e-mail service intended to be primarily accessed via a web browser, as opposed to through an e-mail client such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla's Thunderbird, or Apple's Mail.

The very concept of webmail is to provide you with access to your e-mail accounts from any computer anywhere in the world as long as it has an Internet connection. Webmail provides a web-based interface for you to manage your e-mail accounts and you don't need to configure any software since everything is online!
