What’s with the new filename extensions?
Did you know that files in Open XML Formats with the following file extensions are automatically zipped: .docx, .dotx, .xlsx, .xltx, .pptx, .potx, and .ppsx.
Documents, templates, worksheets, and presentations that you create in Office 2007 are saved with new filename extensions with an x or an m. For example, when you save a document in Word, the file now uses the .docx extension, instead of the .doc extension.
* The x signifies an XML file with no macros.
Microsoft Office 2007: The Office Button and the Quick Access Toolbar
Microsoft Office 2007 contains a number of new features including the Office button, located on the top-left of the window, which replaces the File menu and provides access to functionality common across all Office 2007 applications, including opening, saving, printing, and sharing a file. To the right of the Office button is the Quick Access Toolbar, which is similar to the Quick Launch bar in Windows.

Microsoft Office 2007 Fluent User Interface
The Microsoft Office 2007 Fluent User Interface (also referred to as the Ribbon) offers a better graphic gallery style approach to formatting your content and/or data. The traditional menu system is replaced by the Ribbon and tabs; however, the fluent user interface only applies to certain Office 2007 applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and parts of Outlook).
Inserting worksheets in a snap
Do you normal go to the Insert menu and then select Worksheet in Excel 2003 to insert a new worksheet? If you use Excel 2007, do you click on the Home tab, then navigate to the Cells section and then click on Insert Sheet from the Insert icon drop-down options?
There is a much simpler way than going through all these steps. To quickly add a new blank worksheet in Excel, simply press [Shift] + [F11].
