Microsoft PowerPoint 2007
What’s with the new filename extensions?
Did you know that files in Open XML Formats with the following file extensions are automatically zipped: .docx, .dotx, .xlsx, .xltx, .pptx, .potx, and .ppsx.
Documents, templates, worksheets, and presentations that you create in Office 2007 are saved with new filename extensions with an x or an m. For example, when you save a document in Word, the file now uses the .docx extension, instead of the .doc extension.
* The x signifies an XML file with no macros.
Microsoft Office 2007: The Office Button and the Quick Access Toolbar
Microsoft Office 2007 contains a number of new features including the Office button, located on the top-left of the window, which replaces the File menu and provides access to functionality common across all Office 2007 applications, including opening, saving, printing, and sharing a file. To the right of the Office button is the Quick Access Toolbar, which is similar to the Quick Launch bar in Windows.
See your formatting before it happens
Don’t you hate it when you change the color or size of the text on your document only to realize you made the wrong choice so you keep changing the format like trial and error until you find the perfect one? With Live Preview, you can see how the change will look before applying it to your document.
Microsoft Office 2007 Fluent User Interface
The Microsoft Office 2007 Fluent User Interface (also referred to as the Ribbon) offers a better graphic gallery style approach to formatting your content and/or data. The traditional menu system is replaced by the Ribbon and tabs; however, the fluent user interface only applies to certain Office 2007 applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and parts of Outlook).
