Most IAS Faculty, Staff, and Members with PCs currently use this program for e-mail reception on their IAS office computers. When accessing from off-campus, Outlook can be configured to talk to the mail server either in native format (direct to the IAS Exchange server) or in secure IMAP format like the more limited secure IMAP mail clients described below. If you choose to use Outlook for off-campus access, you will need to purchase the software independently. Due to licensing restrictions, the Information Technology Group cannot install this application on any non-Institute computer.

Mac users can connect to their IAS e-mail by using any e-mail client software that is capable of handling the secure IMAP protocol. Secure IMAP mail clients use secure IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) to access a mail server and view all messages directly from the user's local computer. The Information Technology Group supports the following secure IMAP E-mail clients: Mac Mail, Microsoft Entourage, Mozilla Thunderbird.
