Extensions Blocked by IAS

The Institute's e-mail servers will block a number of e-mail attachments. This is done for security reasons. Viruses have become an ever increasing problem, and are most widely spread through e-mail. To help limit the Institute's vulnerability we have made it a policy to prevent the transmission of certain types of files.

If an e-mail attachment is blocked it will be replaced with a plain text file. The text file will be named DELETE0.TXT. Inside the TXT file will be information about the file that was removed. If the file type is one that is not blocked by the Institute, but you do receive the DELETED0.TXT file, it is because the e-mail attachment was infected with a virus.

If someone is trying to send you a legitimate file, but it is being blocked, have them send the file in a different format. If they are not able to, contact the Help Desk (x8044) for assistance.

Note: Do not ask the sender to send the blocked file in a ZIP file. ZIP files are also blocked.
