Information on this page will assist ITG users who connect to IAS resources while off campus or on campus using their own computing devices. Protect Your IAS Credentials
Your IAS credentials give you access to a wealth of resources and access to our internal restricted resources. By accepting the IAS credentials, you are bound by our Computer Use Policy for those credentials. Protect your IAS credentials at all times. Take normal precautions about using machines unfamiliar to you. Do not use the save password option on machines you are not the sole user on. Do not share your password with anyone. Keep your own machine up to date on operating system patches and anti-virus software/definitions.
On campus networks
- IAS - General use network with access to Internet but not to restricted IAS resources such as Electronic Library resources.
- EDUROAM - While on-campus at IAS, you will have access to the Internet and restricted IAS resources via this network. Users must install an eduroam certificate before they are able to use this network. For instructions, please reference the IAS Wireless Guide: https://www.ias.edu/wireless
While traveling: When you connect to eduroam on a participating campus, you are able to use your IAS credentials to log onto the schools' wifi networks. For example, you can go to Princeton University and log onto their EDUROAM WiFi network which will give you unlimited time on their network. Compared to the guest WiFi network at Princeton University which will only give you about seven days worth of access per month, you can see how this is a big benefit.

If you have requested a redirect, mail sent to firstname.lastname@example.org will end up in the mailbox you told us to send it to.
If you have a physical mailbox provided by IAS, please go to https://mail.ias.edu/ to login using your IAS credentials. The web client provides all of the features of a stand-alone applications. If you use Chrome or Firefox, you will have access to the offline mode. Offline mode allow access to recently downloaded mail/items when not connected to the Internet.

VPN - Software
When using equipment that you own, installing the VPN software on your machine is the preferred mathod. Once installed, you can connect to IAS and access restricted resources as if you were on campus. Instructions for installing the current VPN software (OpenVPN) is available at https://www.ias.edu/openvpn-installation-guide . By using the VPN software, you also have the ability to mount your IAS network drive to your local computer and access to our RemoteApp server. The two methods for VPN access (Web VPN and VPN software) cannot be used at the same time. IAS used Pulse Secure previouly as its VPN software. If you are using Pulse Secure, please install OpenVPN to replace it. The Pulse Secure access will go away eventually in Fall 2018.
VPN - Web Access
When off campus, you will be able to connect to restricted resources such as the Electronic Library resources by using our SSL based VPN service.

Use a web browser, go to the address listed above and sign in using your IAS credentials.
Changing your IAS password while you are offsite
VPN Software Method: Once connected to IAS using the VPN software, surf to the URL https://support.itg.ias.edu/ias/password-changer/ and follow the instructions.
VPN Web Method: Surf to https://vpn.ias.edu, log in with your current IAS credentials, clicking the link “ITG Password Changer” and follow the instructions.
Remoteapp is a virtual application solution that allows users to run windows-based applications from a local computer or device. It allows users to launch virtual applications from a server that appear on their computer as if it is installed locally, but in reality are running on a remote server. You will need to first establish a VPN connection using the VPN software before you will be able to access the service. This service does not work via the Web VPN. Secure File Sharing
If you need to share a file with someone in a secure manner, Filelocker is available.
Mounting Your IAS Network Drive
As a user with IAS credentials, you have access to defined amount IAS network storage space that is backed up. The web VPN allows you to download and upload files to this storage but it is not the same as a mounted drive that allows you to save directly from application to it. If you need to have direct access to your IAS network storage, you will need to first connect using the VPN software and then mount the drive to your computer. IAS uses PaperCut to provide printing services to our clients using mobile devices on campus. You are able to print via the IAS and Eduroam Wifi network while on campus. For more information, please go to https://www.ias.edu/mobile-printing.
Protect Your Computing Environment
Protect yourself and your work by making sure your Anti-Virus software is up to date and you are current on the virus definitions. IAS does provide access to free Windows Anti-Virus software from Vipre. https://security.ias.edu/personal-anti-virus-protection
