Computer Standards

Computer standards for office desktop machines supplied by the Information Technology Group  

The standard represents what most of our users have installed for their desktops at IAS.  We change out member machines as one group so that all members have equivalent systems.

All requests for new equipment should be made through your school's Administrative Officer or your department's supervisor. Administrative Officers and Supervisors wishing to place orders for new equipment should contact the Computer Manager for the Information Technology Group.

Software

The Information Technology Group (ITG) is currently installing the following set of software on IAS office desktops supplied by our group.  Upgrades are available to those who are running older versions on older IAS office machines. IAS office desktops are machines supplied and maintained by ITG.

Additional software packages and licenses must be ordered on an individual basis.  All requests for new software or upgrades should be made through your school's Administrative Officer or your department's supervisor. Administrative Officers and Supervisors wishing to make software requests should contact the Computer Manager for the Information Technology Group.

Linux Configurations

The Linux workstation machines in ITG computing are running Springdale Linux (formerly PUIAS Linux)  that is a derivative of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 with the same software base.
